Grace Anderson and Joep van de Sande x L’Officiel Spain.
So, where to start. Back in Fuerteventura, again. This time for one of the most special stories I’ve ever shot.
Day two of our three day production marathon, we’re on alert for huge storms and (specially) strong winds… and three hours into the shoot we really weren’t feeling it. Carolina and I had written the story almost a year before the shoot – We’re way too young to be this sad (inspired by wise words by Sara Herranz). It’s like all the anticipation was actually holding us back.
So we packed the van and moved. It was already like 3pm and light was running out so we raced down the dirt tracks in south Fuerteventura until we got to (very Slab City-esque) Punta de Jandía. And as soon as we stepped out of the van the energy swung. We saw a bunch of kids playing around on the streets (streets may be a bit of an exaggeration in this case) and our whole story fell into place. It had never happened like this, to actually feel the energy pushing every one of us into a creative frenzy… loved it. The story turned out very different to what we originally had in mind but, at the same time, it’s exactly what we needed. As the great philosopher Mick Jagger once said: you can’t always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, well, you might find you get what you need.
Last but not least, this whole story wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the guys at Jack Daniel‘s – who personally sponsored this project for me (with, honestly, almost no return). Thank you again for making it come true, you guys are pretty cool.
